C4 Extreme Review

C4 Extreme Review

C4 Extreme by Cellucor has quickly skyrocketed to become one of the most popular pre-workout supplements on the market today. Cellucor makes a whole line of bodybuilding supplements but none more popular than C4 Extreme. This review will focus on the ingredients that make up C4 Extreme, as well as other important factors such as taste, effectiveness (energy, pumps, endurance) and side effects.

C4 Extreme contains some common pre-workout ingredients and some that are not so common. Beta alanine is becoming more and more common in pre-workout blends for its proposed ability to increase endurance by delaying muscle fatigue. C4 Extreme contains 1.5 g of Beta alanine per serving which is considered an effective dose. I believe Beta alanine is a great addition to any pre-workout blend.

Next, they include creatine nitrate at 1 g per serving. Personally, I believe that pharmaceutical grade creatine monohydrate is the most effective form of creatine, however some people beg to differ. Creatine nitrate has began to make a name for itself as a creatine that also provides pumps.

Next we have arginine AKG at 1 g per serving. This dosage is a little bit on the low side, however it is still enough to provide some benefit.

Finally, the explosive energy blend totally 718 mg includes:

Vitamin C – improves absorption, increases endurance and provides many other health benefits
N-acetyl-LTyrosine – a nonessential amino acid known for its ability to increase energy and focus
caffeine (135 mg) – a staple in any pre-workout supplement
Mucuna Pruriens – an herb that is a precursor to dopamine
Synephrine HCL – a very powerful supplement that suppresses appetite and increases metabolism and fat loss
B vitamins – B3 (Niacinamide), B6 (Pyridoxine Phosphate), B9 (Folic Acid), B12 (Methylcobalamin)

I would consider this energy blend to be strong, simply based on the ingredients. There are so many different ingredients out there that can increase energy, endurance and fat loss that it really comes down to how the ingredients in a specific blend work together. It’s about finding ingredients that complement each other and including them in effective amounts. Each individual may react differently to different energy and endurance supplements.

While a particular blend may be stellar for one person, it may do next to nothing for someone else. With that being said, the energy blend in C4 Extreme seems to work for a wide array of individuals. They have some great “staple ingredients” in there including caffeine and B vitamins, as well as cutting edge ingredients like Synephrine HCL, which I believe give this supplement an advantage the competition.

C4 Extreme comes in five flavors and most people rate it anywhere between 8-10 out of 10 for taste. With flavors including fruit punch, orange, pink lemonade, watermelon, icy blue razz most people will find at least one flavor they love.

Effectiveness – energy, pumps, endurance

Most comments and reviews regarding C4 Extreme talk about the intensity level that this supplement provides as well as the extreme pumps that are lacking in some other pre-workout supplements. I believe the pumps this supplement provides is partly due to the fact that creatine nitrate is used. Many people also note the fact that the supplement doesn’t provide any jitters and you don’t crash at the end of your workout.

No fillers

One of the things I really like about Cellucor C4 is the fact that there are no fillers or maltodextrin included, which unfortunately has become a common practice among supplement companies.

Side effects

Side effects with any pre-workout supplement can range from upset stomach to sleeplessness among others. However, the only common side effect of most people will experience with Cellucor C4 Extreme is a tingling sensation near the skin, due to the dose of beta alanine included. This is not dangerous and will subside in a few minutes. Other than that, Cellucor C4  Extreme is a safe as any other pre-workout supplement, however if you notice anything unusual you should stop taking it for a while to determine the cause of your symptoms.

Try starting with one scoop for a moderate to intense workout and you can bump it up to two scoops for a highly intense workout session.

Based on over 1200 reviews at Bodybuilding.com, C4 Extreme received an overall rating of 8.8/10, making it the fifth best-selling supplement on the entire website.
